Mounted this on the dash itself, so cannot comment about mounting on the windshield. Used this product to hold my phone on a 9 hour+ drive. Held my phone well, what was particularly convenient is that the bottom clip to hold the phone

Very good plastic build with great suction power and a hold and steady holder. This product is way good at the price range it is selling at, I'll say I was not expecting this much from the product but it has stood beyond my expectations. If anyone in the market is looking for a mobile holder which has all these below mentioned points just go for it.
